About me…

I am Jacqui Shankly, and I have worked for over 20 years supporting families with young children. I began working in Early Years community music for the charity sector, working with families throughout Staffordshire and the West Midlands. I loved my work, and what fascinated me most was the power of music to stimulate fun, playfulness, conversations and connection between children and their parents and carers. So began a lifetime of interest and research into early childhood development and attachment, culminating in training as a Play Therapist and founding Moonbeams CIC, an organisation dedicated to promoting positive childhood mental health through direct work with children, and support for the adults around them.

My passion and joy is working with families. Parents are their child’s first and most enduring teacher, and the family dynamic forms the basis of a child’s future view of the world.  Parenting is one of the most demanding jobs in the world, and everyone needs support from time to time.

My approach is playful, non-judgemental and supportive. Whether you access individual Play Therapy or Filial Therapy support for your own child or a child in your care, , or access one of my online or in person training courses, then I am confident that your connection with each child will grow stronger, and your confidence to support them through life’s challenges will be enhanced.

My qualifications include:

MA (Distinction) Practice Based Play Therapy (APAC)

BA (Hons) Psychology (Aston University)

Early Years Professional Status (EYPS)

Additional CPD Includes:

Creative Clinical Supervision (PTUK)

Intensive Filial Therapy (APT)
